For a class called “Correspondence for Mass Media”, my classmates and I had an assignment of writing a news article along with a cover letter to the editor of a news agency. I wanted to produce an article that is of interest to English speakers from sources that were originally written in Indonesian.

Process

I scoured the internet for news articles and official statements made by relevant people and institutions. I then noted important points and constructed an article in a format that might be more familiar to English-speaking audiences.

My Remark(s)

My research and critical thinking skills were certainly challenged through this assignment as I learned how to look for important information and connect the dots. I also learned how to pack information into a format that is more suitable for certain audiences.
